President Joe Biden will visit Allentown on Friday, the White House announced Tuesday, for his second visit to Pennsylvania of 2024.
According to a news release from the White House, Biden “will discuss how communities across America are coming back thanks to Bidenomics and his Investing in America agenda, which have ushered in a small business boom, created good-paying jobs with rising wages, strengthened local economies, and lowered costs for hardworking families.”
No further details about the trip were yet available, but state Rep. Josh Siegel (D-Lehigh) said in a press release that the Lehigh Valley area was a “natural place” for the president to tout his economic agenda.
“Our region is an economic success story that the entire commonwealth has held up as an example of how to revitalize communities and create opportunity,” Siegel said. “It’s only natural the president would choose the swing region of the swing state to bring his message to Pennsylvania.”
Biden made his first campaign speech of 2024 last week at Montgomery Community College. During a fiery speech about the importance of defending American democracy, Biden said there was a clear choice between him and Trump, his likely Republican opponent.
“Donald Trump’s campaign is about him, not America, not you,” Biden said. “He’s obsessed with the past, not the future. He’s willing to sacrifice our democracy, put himself in power.”
