Jobs Increase Across Pennsylvania

Recently, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released both national and state unemployment and jobs data from February. According to the nationalemployment situation report, the national unemployment rate was at 3.6 percent, a 0.2 percent increase from January.

Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate remained relatively unchanged, increasing from 4.3 percent in January to 4.4 percent in February. Despite this increase, based on preliminary data, the state has added about 8,074 new nonfarm jobs between January to February with some of the largest increases coming from the financial activities, business, and hospitality sectors.

Doula Nonprofit Offers Financial Assistance for State Certification

As state lawmakers in Harrisburg work to combat Pennsylvania’s maternal mortality crisis, an advocacy organization is helping doulas with the cost of obtaining a state certification, a move they hope will bring more people into the field and improve maternal health outcomes across the commonwealth.
