The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (3-3) lost to the Columbus Clippers (3-3) on Sunday afternoon by a score of 12-1. The lone series of the season between the two teams ends in a 3-3 tie. The IronPigs managed just three hits the entire game.
Donny Sands provided the IronPigs with their lone run of the game, a solo home run against Kirk McCarty in the bottom of the first inning.
IronPigs starting pitcher James Marvel (0-1) retired the first six batters he faced before facing a world of trouble in the top of the third inning. Columbus scored five runs in the inning, highlighted by a two-run single by Josh Naylor and a two-run home run by Oscar Gonzalez.
The Clippers tagged Marvel for another run in the top of the fourth inning as Gabriel Arias hit an RBI single to give Columbus a 6-1 lead.
The Clippers scored five more runs in the top of the fifth inning to extend their lead to 11-1. Jonathan Hennigan allowed three runs in the inning while Jake Newberry allowed two runs in the inning. Mitchell Tolman homered against Braeden Ogle in the top of the eighth inning to give Columbus a 12-1 lead.
